Ok, so how about we kick of the discussion with the first issue of season 8?
I managed to read it because of the lovely Farah and here are my thoughts.
I'm not much of a comic reader so it takes some getting use to. I thought 25 pages was extremely short. Like extremely! Other than that, I enjoyed it. I had to get use to the whole speaking-to-themselves dialogue and the format but I think I got the jist of it.
A little mad that there is so much of infomation was left out - like what happened between Buffy and Dawn and what happened with Dawn (giant Dawn? WTF!). Love the ending though. Didn't expect to see Amy returning.
One thing I didn't like was the fake Buffy being in Rome thing. It seems a bit too...I don't know, convenient? I expected a better explanation. Oh well.
I love General Xander! I'm glad he didn't turn out to be a Watcher. It's definitely something refreshing to see.
I can't wait to read issue 2. It sucks that it's so short though! Grrr!

It was only 25 pages, no wonder I thought it went fast when I read it (no, I didn't think to look at the page numbers while reading *grin*).
What kinda made me irritated was the Dawn/Buffy interaction, it was like we were back in seasons 5 and 6, like they just ignored how much Dawn grew during season 7 and how mature she'd gotten by the end of the show.
I liked the suprise of Dawn being huge - I liked that we were just thrown into that instead of witnessing the whole thing from the start. Kinda made a good twist. Especially liked the scene when Buffy went to talk to her, going up all the stairs, leaning backwards looking at her upside down and everything.
The Amy thing wasn't so much fun.. or well, it could have been better. Especially since they started talking about her wanting alot of cheese. I mean she had gotten by that a long time ago, she hasn't been a rat since season 6 - and after that she didn't like cheese, so what's the deal? (sorry for gettin hooked on small things )
Otherwise I found the premier of season 8 really good. I'm very curious on the goverment thing, as long as they don't do ANOTHER initiative thing I'm good.
Now I'm just waiting for sweden to get the next issue and the store to send it to me! _________________

I agree. I think so much information is left out (like how and why Dawn became a giant and how and why the sisters grew apart) that made it seem like Joss ignored what happened in the show. I think if we got some answers, things would be clearer to us.
I think everything will be solved in the fourth issue. I saw the cover of it and it was of Giant!Dawn and Buffy. So I assume, Joss is going to tackle the issue of Dawn being a giant and her strain relationship with Buffy in that issue.
I hope so because I hate being in the dark!

I just posted about the first issue in the other section about season 8.
It took a while to be used at the short version of it liek you guys had told but I enjoy it.
I loved to see Xander as a general and the matter that he hasn't lost his goofy humor's sense and his sarcasm and it seems that he didn't lost his insight since he is the one pushing Buffy to talkwith Dawn.
I couldn't help to notice that Buffy talk about sex "that sex" and not about her love for Spike
and what to say about the matter that Dawn trust to talk about guys with Willow and not Buffy making realize Buffy that she isn't resolved all her trouble with Dawn, even if it is understandable that she has a lot to do.
Now if only Kennedy would be dead...... my world would be perfect.
