I was thinking about this when I was posting in the Supernatural thread last night.

On the 10th of March this year, it would be Buffy's 10th Anniversary (10 years ago, on that date, Welcome to the Hellmouth was aired in America). 10 years on, we see loads of TV shows come and go.

Right now, I'm in love with Grey's Anatomy and I'm sure many of you out there either share the same feeling for GA or for other shows like Supernatural, Veronica Mars, etc.

So my question is, does your love for these shows overtake your love for Buffy the Vampire Slayer (or even Angel)?

Even though I absolutely love GA, I don't think I will pick that show over Buffy any day. One reason is that the two shows are quite different from each other and my love for the shows are different as well.

But I'm curious for those who love shows like Supernatural or Veronica Mars. In my opinion, both shows are quite similar to Buffy. So does your love for these shows surpass the love for the 'Verse?

Do you ever think, in the future, a show will beat Buffy and Angel and take the title of being the greatest show on earth? Or will the 'Verse remain that way for a long, long time for you?

I was thinking about that not too long ago as well. But Buffy will always be my absolute favorite show. From what I've seen of Supernatural, it's definitely a quality show, but not like Buffy. Same goes for Veronica Mars. It has similarities, but it comes back to Buffy.

The only way I see any show being greater than Buffy or Angel in the future is if Joss does it. Firefly for example, if it lasted a few seasons longer (well hell a full season) I think it could have surpassed Buffy's greatness. But I still don't think it would beat Buffy.

I agree with you on this. The 14 or so eps that we saw was absolutely awesome and I always wondered if the show will be better and great than Buffy if Firefly had the same number of episodes.

If 14 episodes were this great, just imagine how great 144 episodes would be!

I love Veronica Mars and Supernatural and especially Gilmore Girls.. but Buffy/Angel wil always have a special place my heart. It will have to take ALOT to surpass those shows for me.. Firefly goes into the category that Buffy and Angel exists in for me so even if the show had lasted a full season or more (if only *sigh) it would have been an awesome show melded together with the other two, for me.

If I had to chose to watch an old episode of the shows mentioned above or one of the verse.. I'd chose the verse. It's like coming home for me and nothing can beat that.

I don't think any show will ever mean as much to me as Buffy does. I started watching Buffy during a difficult period in my life - I needed escape from reality, and BtVS offered that and much more. It's hard to analyze what makes BtVS so different and special, but to me it still is more than any other TV show. Jossverse is a whole world, and BtVS more like a state of mind. No other show or even a movie has ever made me feel as much as BtVS did.

I have many shows I enjoy watching a lot. House is awesome, so is Rome and the new Battlestar Galactica. BSG is little bit like Buffy - it's a whole world with a deep meaningful undertone, moral issues etc. Rome touches me with emotional level and I simply love history. House is just so entertaining with the witty dialogue and great characters - I love sarcasm and irony, and the show is full of that. But Buffy is still Buffy.

(GA is also airing here at the moment but since it's on at the same time as CSI, I haven't been able to watch it all. Too bad because so many seem to really enjoy the show!)

Actually still doesn't exists a show that I love more than Btvs or Ats. I like very much Lost, CSI, Desperate housewives, but none of them put roots in my heart like Buffy and Angel did.
Sure I haven't still saw Supernatural so I don't know if soon this feeling will change for me, but like a writer while I can think about new stories about Btvs characters easily, I can't do the same think with the other show.

I love Scrubs, House and used to watch Lost, however, nothing can ever measure to the place BtVS has in my heart. I was never much into a character like I am into Xander, Spike, Willow, Buffy, Dawn ... etc. And writing fanfic about them, that made them grow closer to my heart.

Oh, in no way does it or ever will, imo. Buffy and Angel has been such a big part of my life. In fact, if it wasn't for those shows, I wouldn't see other good stuff like Heroes and Veronica Mars. Angel and Buffy have something very unique that takes them out of the running to be beaten. The dialouge, the fighting, the messages, the acting, the emtoion, the comedy! It's all in there and it balances them better than any other show, ever imo, has done. It's pretty amazing, really. Not only does Buffy and Angel do this better than any other show, but it inspired this, imo, for other shows to do. Long live Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel!
