Nathan Fillion - "Drive" Tv Series will be on air on April 15, 2007.
Nathan Fillion our loved Capt. Malcolm 'Mal' Reynolds on Firefly & Serenity, and Caleb on Buffy got to play a new serial on FOX.
I found the news on Whedon.info that Drive will premiere on April 15th with two episodes and that the third will air on the 16th, before the show settles into its regular timeslot on Monday at 8pm.
This could change before then, but at the moment that’s how it is. And it doesn’t suck.

Double posting I know, sorry and if it isn't allowed please just let me know but guess who joined to Drives cast?
Spoiler:
Amy Acker! Amy Acker is the newest addition to the cast of DRIVE as Kathryn, the missing wife of Alex Tully (Nathan Fillion).
Dana
The first promopic has been released from the show, though Amy is missing in the pic you can still enjoy the Fillion-goodness
Personally I can't wait to start watching Fillion on a weekly basis again. The guy is brilliant and he's got this way about him that just makes you wanna watch him in whatever he's got going on tv/movie wise.. (would never have seen 'Slither' if he hadn't been one of the main casts)

Thank you for the great pic!
Poor Nathan seems sad in it though, but then it make sense since ....
Spoiler:
he is researching for his missing wife, Amy Acker
Dana
hmm.. I find myself a bit confused on this show actually. I can't seem to find any concrete info on what this show is about, more than mentioned above in the spoilertag by Carla..
Someone care to elaborate on this show?

Here everything I know about it sweety
Spoiler:
Minear is the creator and executive producer of Drive, a series that has been picked up by FOX and is expected to debut in spring of 2007. The series focuses on Fillion’s character that is forced to participate in an illegal cross country road race to save his abducted wife. The pilot was shot with Ivan Sergei playing the lead role. Minear wanted Fillion all along but at the time of shooting Fillion was deep into the production of his new classic White Noise 2. So when the series was picked up and Fillion had become available the lead role was recast.
Truth be told the plot don't attract me so much but I'll give it a chance since NF is in it.
Dana
God, that's so evil towards Ivan Sergei, who's really cute, loved him in 'Jack and Jill', but I'm glad they got Fillion in on it instead, especially with Minear behind the wheels.
The plot sounds a bit 'meeh' but if it they manage to get some good storylines in there and not drag out the whole thing over several seasons (*hint* Lost *hint*) then perhaps it could work. Say they end the first(or second, depending on the length of the first) season with
Spoiler:
Fillion finding his wife and being reunited with her, and her being alive as well!
and then head into a new plot of an 'spinoff'-plot from the first one then yeah.. it might work.
Thanx for the info Carla! Was getting seriously confused here

Hmmm, doesn't seem all that interesting. But I do agree with Dana. If they managed to put in great storylines and not make the series too draggy, I can see this show being a hit.
Besides, Minear is the brains of this so it should be good. But I guess we have to see the pliot to make a good judgement whether this show will survive or not.
For NF sake, I hope it does.

Actually I think this would make a better movie than a show in all honesty, lol.
I see them doing this plot for season 1, but what about next season? They obviously can't do it twice, I mean capturing his wife a second time? B-O-R-I-N-G. Though if they continued with it, then maybe Amy could have lead female next season? Hehe.
Though you so know that along the way in finding his wife NF's character is probably gonna have this big chemistry with the lead female and then they are gonna have a thing and so on...
Oh well, probably won't even get passed the first half of season 1, I mean it is a show with Jossverse actors...and this IS FOX we're talking about people.

I took the liberty of moving this thread into the actual show section as the show has appearantly aired somewhere in the world (canada?) already, before the big premier tomorrow and on monday. I haven't seen it yet and I can't say where I found it as it's illegal to uhmm.. see it in other ways *lol* but send me a pm if you can't find it.
Anyway, I've seen promos and a 4(?) minute clip of the show and it looks really promising. I can't wait to see Mr. Fillion again!

Wouldn't doubt if it was Canada they air Heroes a day early also...mean people!
I will be watching the Pilot, I am gonna at least give it a chance. I wanna see Nathan and Amy together! I wish that Angel went on one more season, what do you wanna bet that Joss woulda used Nathan in that also? That would be another way for some Nathan/Amy action!
Ameer
Is anyone from Canada here? I know they aired it on CTV yesterday and I want to hear people's opinions about the show.
To me, the premise of this show looks similar to that of Lost. When it was picked up by ABC, people didn't think it would last for more than a season and now it's well into its third season and will probably get picked up for a fourth run too. The writers have plans for 8 seasons in total. Anyway, back on topic - I think that Drive, too, can go on for two or three seasons at least, given that it brings in fresh storylines and hopefully, answers whatever questions it will pose in the course of the season (something that Lost NEVER seems to do, which is why they aren't exactly big in the ratings department currently) and not have elongated arcs.
For Nathan and Tim's sake, I hope this show will do well. Given Tim's spotty record as showrunner, I hope that won't work against him this time as well. I would really like this show to do well because if anyone deserves recognition, it's Nathan Fillion. And who isn't dying to see Amy Acker as if his wife?
I'll post the ratings and demo for the premier once they're out. It's been paired with 24, so hopefully we'll get to see good numbers. I would've preferred it to have American Idol as a lead-in, though. Anyway, best of luck to the show!
Dana
Well, I just finished watching the two first episodes and I'm hooked. It's not just about Nathan's character "Alex Tully" but about so many other who are in this race for a reason and who really wants to win the money and have good reason to.
We get to see the harder side of Nathan, which he showed as Mal, which is a really good thing. His acting is brilliant and somehow I don't see Mal - I see Alex. It's funny because usually I can't shake that some people are acting other characters. I have a hard time watching Sarah as the victim or clueless what to do in a bad situation. But I don't get that with Nathan. I swallowed his characters good and whole and I'm gonna keep watching.
Like Lost we have the backstories on the characters, I mean we don't get the flashes like Lost but we get bits and pieces and we get an understanding where they're coming from.
I'm definitly hooked and I look forward to the next ep!

I just heard last night that this show has started airing. Is the second ep out already?
I'm very keen to see it. Hopefully, I'll get the chance to do so sometime this week.
Dana
Irene, yeah, it aired in Canada. In the states the first ep airs today, sunday and the second on monday. appearantly they went with both eps in canada the same day
Joe, Nathan on Angel - that would have been interesting although I'm not sure I would have liked it if he played another part which he would have since he kinda 'split' during Btvs. It messes with ones mind, especially since they did it with Jonathan Woodward...

I watched all three eps and I'm still finding an opinion for it. The first two episodes were really good but the third one wasn't all that great.
What I like about the show it how it's shot. Very cool. The characters are interesting and the plot is engaging. I think the show has potential.
Spoiler:
What I don't like about this show is how the race organisers seem to be everywhere. Like in the third ep for example where Alex gets arrested for a murder a few years ago. Now, I thought that was such an interesting twist to the character. But in the end, it turned out to be a joke. Kinda anti-climatic and a bit pointless. Alex was right - why go through all that trouble because they just wanted to give him a car? That annoyed me a lot. Kinda felt like I was wasting my time watching the ep.
If the writers keep putting in new twist but in the end we find out that it's just the organisers messing with the contestant's heads, I don't think I'll be very keen in watching this show.
It can get very irritating that every random person the contestant meet turns out to be one of the organisers.
Overall, the show is alright. Has a lot of potential if the writers know which direction to take. But if the show is going to be anything like the third ep, I wouldn't be surprise if the show doesn't last long.
Dana
As some of you might know, others might have missed. FOX has cancelled Drive after only airing 4 episodes. There are 2 more episodes finished but I have no idea if and when they will air.
I think they're getting better at this, next time there will only be one episode aired before cancelation of a show *sigh*
shred
Yeah, I heard about this just today morning.
I read that FOX would be showing the final two episodes in May. But apparently, they are still deciding whether to show it or not. Not sure why.
I'm actually not surprise. Honestly, This is FOX, you can't expect anything less than this. I was just waiting to see how long it would take for FOX to come out and can the show. They seem to be against smart shows like Drive and Firefly. It's either they don't get it or they are just bias against anything Joss related.
Though the show is weak in places, I thought it had the potential to do better. I mean, how can you tell after 4 episodes whether the show is good or not? You have to give the show a chance to blossom before passing judgement.
*sigh*
Poor Nathan Fillion. He's probably thinking that he's curse now as both shows he's a lead in gets cancelled.
Dana
Sadly the two episodes never aired. They put them online for streaming but if you, like me, live outside the states, you can't watch them. I think this is just horrible. The show had potential and then they just killed it off, told people that 'yeah sure we'll air the last two episodes in may' 'no wait, july' 'no wait, online' 'oh.. it's only for the states, sorry!' *sigh*
Minor good news though. The team that did the intro has been nominated for an emmy or something for their work, and Drive will go down in history as one of the first series to be nominated for their work while streamed online. So that's always something.. but still. I would have loved getting more of this show before FOX did as they usually do - killed it.
shred
I kinda lost interest in this show when I heard they weren't going to air the last two episodes. I find it very silly of them to do that. But then again, this is FOX that we are talking about.
On a brighter side, Fillion will be a regular in Desperate Housewives next season so I'm happy he is still finding work. I'll definitely watch DH for him.
Dana
It's just sad to see FOX killing off so many good shows and then just letting others run forever that isn't that great.
Had I been one of those tvshow creator types, I would have been trying to find whichever network to pick up my show EXCEPT fox, because otherwise I'd know my show would be gone within the year.
I'm still curious of the show but now there's just no point since I'll never get any answers. We didn't even get to see Amy or anything. I would have loved seeing the last two episodes but considering I live out of the states, I won't be able to.
I'm definitly looking forward to seeing Nathan on DH. Been watching the show from the start and personally found it to be going downhill for a while now so I look forward to seeing it pick up again with Fillion. At least I'll have something yummy to watch each week
